We’re looking for an Android Engineer to help build and optimize Oxy’s mobile apps using React Native (Expo) for Android. You’ll focus on performance, native modules, and platform-specific improvements that ensure a seamless and ethical user experience for products like Homiio, Sindi, and Mention.
At Oxy, we’re creating a new kind of digital ecosystem — one that’s ethical, open, and built to serve real people. Our mobile apps are central to this vision. As an Android Engineer, you’ll work within our React Native (Expo) stack, bringing deep knowledge of the Android platform to enhance performance, reliability, and integration with native features.
You won’t just build features — you’ll help shape the mobile experience of tools that fight housing injustice, protect user rights, and build stronger communities.
What You’ll Do
Develop and optimize Android-specific features in our React Native + Expo codebase.
Work on deep integrations like push notifications, location, background services, file uploads, etc.
Handle platform-specific debugging, native module linking, and Android build optimization.
Collaborate with design, backend, and product teams to build scalable, accessible experiences.
Monitor and improve performance, crash analytics, and battery/resource usage on Android devices.
Contribute to deployment, testing, and release workflows (Play Store, OTA updates).
What We’re Looking For
Strong experience with Android development, either in React Native (Expo/Bare) or native Java/Kotlin.
Deep understanding of Android architecture, permissions, lifecycle, and native APIs.
Experience optimizing app performance, memory usage, and background behavior.
Bonus: experience building or maintaining custom native modules in React Native.
Comfortable working in a startup environment: fast-moving, high ownership, async collaboration.
